As some of you will know, I’ve been attempting to get more involved with things I enjoy doing for a while now. LLLRanting takes up a lot of my time but with us recruiting more people, we can get more articles to you and it won’t all fall to me – hopefully.
So, I have been applying for both voluntary and paid jobs. And the paid jobs responses have been interesting.
I applied to be a graphic designer for a small publishing house, which I would have loved to have done. It was only minimum wage and a zero hour contract, but it would have given me a chance to get involved in something I enjoyed doing. I applied because it wanted someone over 18, someone who is young and fresh into the business with not much experience…. So I applied. Only to be then sent away with this response:
We’re looking for someone with about twenty years experience, sorry.
How is that young and fresh into the business? Pretty certain someone who has twenty years on their back is middle aged and in the business already. After all, they wanted someone over 18 – so, someone started working as a graphic designer 20 years ago, at age 18, that would make their preferred candidate 38, at least!
Another job just sent me away because I was stupid; also known as being dyslexic.
And then the third job, that got back to me, refused to give me an interview due to being a Satan worshipper. Which I’m not – I’m Pagan, so that’s a group of people that don’t understand the difference between very different religions…
Anyways, after a long wait, I finally found something else that I liked the look of. As you’ll know, I did youtube for a number of years before my account was snatched, and after that, I didn’t really feel like building it back up. So, I stopped. Well, this job is to be a Radio Presenter. It’s voluntary and requires a lot of time and effort, but as we know – I have a lot of that!
I went to my interview last Monday and got the job, and I shall be doing another piece of training today. If today’s interview goes well, I may be on the air soon.
And the best thing about it, it’s not just the radio that we get to do. We also get to have a laugh with the other presenters, meet people, and work on events.
Last week, on Saturday, we worked a cycling event and I met a fair few of the presenters, they’re amazing people. And we took photos…. Mind my derpy double chin in some of them – that’s what happens when I try to look derpy – I just end up losing my neck.
And that’s it so far! It was a great day, and I hope to do it again soon. We’re going to be doing a festival on May 13th, and another on May 20th. So, we’ll see!
I don’t know when I’ll be on air, but when I find out, I’ll let you know!
Until then, if you want to listen in on the radio, you can do by going to our website:
Have a great day everyone!
