So hiya guys, I’m new here and it would probably be a good idea to give you some background information and just general knowledge about me c:
so I’m Chloe, I’m 16 years of age and come from a small town called Pontefract in England. I’m currently studying psychology and 3 other subjects in college and enjoying it surprisingly once you get past all the judgmental pricks and teachers who think they own you.
my interests and hobbies mainly include skating, gaming and body modification as it’s three of the things in life which I purely enjoy no matter what mood of state that I’m in 🙂
so for my first article or writing, I wanted to form it on the basis of the LGBT community , and some topics which I don’t think are discussed enough with society, so firstly I am pansexual and have been out for nearly 2 years now, and one thing I want to address right now is what ‘pansexual’ actually is and clear up myths and silly gestures and comments I’ve heard or been told since I came out. Pan sexuality is where an individual is not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender, or gender identity which comes from Pan-“ being a Greek prefix referring to “all” or “every” coming together as one.
So now that’s out of the way lets get to the myths and facts about this identity:
myth one: the most common myth I’ve heard since coming out and also a few years before was that pansexuals are involved in sexual acts with pans, pots and other kitchen appliances , which to be fair I think is the most stupidest thing I’ve heard in terms of identity and that people who make these kind of jokes and sarcastic lines need to think about what comes out of their mouths.
myth two: pansexuals are just greedy and because there attracted to all genders and sexes they will sleep with anybody. This is also very inaccurate as someones sexual identity does not regard on who and how much an individual will sleep around, therefore I am not saying some people who identify them self as pansexual doesn’t enjoy large amounts of sex but both an individuals sexual identity and behavior are independent aspects within their life.
The final and most annoying myth: Isn’t pan sexuality just the same as bisexuality?
Pan sexuality is not the same as bisexuality.
lets just make this clear right here and now okay?
There is some overlap when defining bisexual and pansexual orientation; however, there are important differences between the two identities. Therefore defining Bisexual people these are individuals who are attracted sexually and romantically to both males and females, and are capable of engaging in sensual relationships with either sex. Despite being able to form meaningful, lasting relationships with both sexes, bisexual individuals may, to a small or large degree, have a preference for one sex over the other.Similarly, pansexual people may be sexually attracted to individuals who identify as male or female; however, they may also be attracted to those who identify as intersex, third-gender, androgynous, transsexual, or the many other sexual and gender identities. The latter distinction is what draws the line between pan sexuality and bisexuality
People who self-identify as pansexual do so with purpose , this is not because they want to be seen as ‘cool’ or ‘different’ but as where they want to express that they are able to be attracted to various gender and sexual identities, whether they fall within the gender binary or not. So there you have it a brief summary on the sexual identity pan sexuality 🙂
be the change you wish to see in this world~
