Some of you will know that for the past three years, for both my blogs and YouTube I have been working on a laptop.

It’s not the worst make in the world, it’s a Toshiba, it has gotten me through a lot of shit especially while it has been keeping me in touch with my boyfriend who lives a nice 5000 miles away in California.

And my little “shitty” laptop, as some have called it in the passed, got me through the worst of my depression as I was told that my father could die pretty soon and I was in the middle of my GCSE’s and life was pretty shitty but my laptop continued to work which made me able to work and write for you guys and make some videos of my gaming adventures with my boyfriend and stuff like that.

But I needed a new computer. My laptop was constantly breaking, it was struggling to get to the WiFi while I was playing games and talking to Panda… And above all of that, I really wanted a computer that could be fast, be able to connect to the internet and do what it’s supposed to!

So, I went to PC World, which is now linked with Currys, the store I went to is in Pontefract and I thought it was a good branch until this happened.

Not only did their computer systems take over 2 hours for them to get to finally ordering everything into the store, but their “KnowHow” desk almost fried the computer. Why? How? Well, I paid for them to set everything up so that as soon as I was home and plugged it in, it would work. This, however, was not the case.

I picked it up on Sunday, only to be greeted with, “If it doesn’t work, bring it back and I’ll fix it.” Which isn’t what you’d like to hear really, is it? After spending over £1,500 on it, I want to go in and be told “Here is your computer, plug it in when you get home and you’re sorted.” Not that if there is a problem I should take it back! That’s not what they should say.

And he was right, if it didn’t work, I could take it back. So I did. I took it back on Monday, less than 24 hours before I picked it up. Why? Because nothing would open on the desktop, the logging in sign was not showing on the start up and it was just a complete farce from start to finish.

So, I took it back and collected it 5 hours later. The problem? When they’d installed everything and connected it to the stores WiFi, instead of letting the Updates run through and correct the old OS errors to make the OS up to date, due to the computer being in storage for a few months, and instead of letting the updates install, the “KnowHow” worker decided to do the opposite of what the computer screen said and turned the tower off!

He turned it off and made the OS corrupt. Which is why the entire thing was screwing up.

So, there is a lesson to be learnt from this!

When your computer says “Please Do Not Turn Your Computer Off While Updating” DON’T DO IT!

Naughty!

Another thing, if you have a PC that is only Windows 8, and notifications are popping up saying that you can get the 8.1 upgrade, don’t disable the notification. Why? Because 8.1 is a lot less laggy and glitchy than Windows 8.

Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Now, to finish this little review –

1. How Did I Enjoy The Customer Service On The Shop Floor?

Brilliant! The people were nice and friendly and for the 3 hours that we were in there for while ordering, we got to make people laugh.

2. How Did You Like Our Check Out System?

I fucking hated it, the computers were slow and one till crashed twice. For a computer company who are attempting to sell Computers, I think they need to upgrade theirs before they attempted to get someone to upgrade. If it was my dad attempting to get the computer, he would have left within an hour! Even an hour is too long to wait!

3. How Did You Like The Speed In Which You Received Your Items?

I got everything but my Sigma lens on Sunday. my computer wouldn’t work. I already had my Camera, SD Card, Tripod and WiFi Adapter.

4. Did You Enjoy The Help That You Got On The KnowHow Call Desk?

No, because they didn’t have a clue in which they were speaking of due to them not understanding the symptoms.

5. Do You Like The Quality Of Products That You Received?

All but the computer. Once the computer was fixed, then yes. However, it shouldn’t have needed to be fixed, the “Computer Technicians” should have set everything up correctly the first time.

6. Are You Satisfied With Your Items?

Now that everything works, yes.

I recommend Currys PC World, everywhere. However, it is not fair for you to pay so much just to find it broken and become frustrated with what you’ve originally been given.

If PC World corrected their systems so both their customers and employee’s didn’t get mad at the computers, and then made sure that everything is tested before sending it out or letting a customer collect it, it would then become an even better company that it is already!

The customer service that I experienced on Thursday, after my bank card got declined TWICE, was great! They didn’t get annoyed, they stayed humble and understanding and more branches need employee’s like them.

So, yes, I recommend PC World even though my father is writing a complaint to the company about the lack of care that the KnowHow desk gave me. But honestly, it will always be better to do there than to a store that may not be there in the next 5 years. Or even get it from a place which doesn’t know anything about computers at all.

For Those Who Are Curious –

My PC set up is now a Cyberpower Rev Elite II.

It has 8GB ram, 1TB of Hard drive space, a great graphics card and the processor is Intel i5.

There are 7 fans, 4 of which have LED lighting on them.

It is a Gaming PC which is good for media, photography and film studies.

It was only £800, roughly (Rounded Up).

And in itself it is a good computer, I know from experience with this particular model.

If you need a gaming PC, Laptop or anything. Try getting a Cyberpower PC, it’s definitely worth the money!
